About Kevin T. Wand, D.O.
A Residency Trained Family Physician
Kevin T. Wand,, D.O., a residency trained family physician through the American Academy of Family Practice, is a strong advocate of holistic family medicine. Dr. Wand’s approach to health care combines the best of traditional and nontraditional medicine. A native of Iowa, Dr. Wand earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. Continuing his studies, Dr. Wand graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa, where he became a supporter of the Osteopathic Principle: Illness is a whole-body experience. For optimum wellness, the entire body—not just its symptoms—should be considered and treated.
Dr. Wand completed his medical internship at San Diego’s Naval Hospital and his family practice residency at Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, San Diego. His 25 year navy career has given Dr. Wand a world view, including experiences as a flight surgeon on the carrier, U.S.S. Nimitz. Dr. Wand was also flight surgeon for the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and medical director for all naval medical clinics in the Midwest United States. In 1994, Dr. Wand retired from the navy and joined Minnesota’s Park Nicollet Medical Clinic, where he worked as a family physician and furthered his development of holistic medicine. In 2001, Dr. Wand founded Midwest Wellness Center with the vision to provide a more comprehensive and holistic approach to health.
Involvement in holistic and environmental medicine.
Dr. Wand developed an interest in holistic medicine when he developed chronic fatigue about 30 years ago. His evaluation and treatment by traditional methods did not resolve the fatigue so he started exploring holistic methods like nutrition, supplements, allergies, Candida, etc. He regained his health within a year and then started studying holistic medicine. Four years later in 2001 he opened Midwest Wellness Center, LLC. The 1st 10 years the clinic was open the majority of patients would get better with nutritional changes, supplements, thyroid treatment, Candida treatment, etc. About 2013 Dr. Wand noticed that people were not getting better like they were the 1st 10 years the clinic was open. The holistic approach was not helping as many people. He felt there had to be some causal factors that he was missing. This is when he started looking at the environment and environmental medicine. He found that chemicals, mold, heavy metals, and EMF (like wireless) were affecting more people and keeping them from achieving good health. He then turned most of his medical focus to the environment and started teaching his patients what he learned.
